This study involves the adaption of and pilot testing the Early Learning Outcome Measure (ELOM) (4&5) Years Assessment tool in South African Sign Language (SASL).

This repository contains quantitative data which includes demographic profiles and the responses to the ELOM (4&5)-D assessments in SASL.

Funding

This ELOM (4&5)-D project is part of the larger project titled “Effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of home-based intervention to support early deaf child development in South Africa” which was funded by Medical Research Council (Grant Ref: MR/V034928/1).

History

Research ethics approval number

The study received ethical approval in South Africa from the Human Research Ethics Committee (Non-Medical), University of the Witwatersrand South Africa (H23/03/29), and further approval from Gauteng Department of Education (8/4/4/1/2). The study was also separately reviewed and approved by the University of Manchester, UK, Ethics Committee (16644).
