This dataset comprises of anonymised data and transcripts collected from two participatory workshops conducted with 10 older adults aged 65 years and over living in areas of high socioeconomic deprivation in Manchester. These provide detail about participants' preferences regarding physical activity messaging to help communicate physical activity guideline information and to help encourage engagement in leisure-time physical activity. Workshop content was guided and underpinned by the Physical Activity Messaging Framework (Williamson et al., 2021) and data was analysed using deductive thematic analysis.
