ATLAS Open Data for Education and Research
The ATLAS collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN has published two releases of experimental data and simulations of the results of high-energy proton collisions in the experiment, with the aim of these being used for educational/outreach purposes, a new and largest-ever release of data, with key leadership from Manchester staff members, is now under development for release in 2024 for Open Science purposes.
Extensive documentation, tools and example use cases will also be provided for a variety of audiences, fostering skills transfer and enabling journal-quality research. This talk will present the scope and design of the project, including the released material and targeted audiences, as well as the goals and future prospects.
