Involvement helps ensure that clinical and health research is relevant, ethical and accessible. For many public contributors (PCs) with lived experience, provision of training about the research processes is important to build their confidence and expertise to support their advisory or collaborative role. While PCs are likely to be familiar with co-production of research and view it as important, what do PCs know and think about other aspects of open research? To answer this question, we carried out an online survey investigating what PCs already know and would like to know about different Open Research practices (e.g. pre-registration, data sharing). We worked with PCs to shape the research questions, data collection, interpretation and dissemination. We also aimed to identify possible sub-groups of contributors with differing views on Open Research, relating to the nature of their lived experience or their prior research knowledge. We will discuss the pre-registered analysis of this survey. The findings will be used to inform the development of training resources about open research for public contributors, which will be made openly available.

ASSOCIATED LINKS

https://manchester-uk.libanswers.com/OOR/faq/279379
