This workshop session took place at the ITE/ECT 2025 Annual PGCE Conference Inclusion & Inspiration - Education for Social Justice. 17 January 2025. University of Manchester. How can Generative AI be harnessed to improve learning outcomes for all while embracing the social, human elements of teaching and learning? This session, led by Amanda and Sara, described the development of an App that is a particular attempt to answer this question. This App is built on principles of Funds of Knowledge and Teachable Moments through work with the local Elective Home Education (EHE) community and Manchester Museum, focusing initially on Science education. The app takes an image or description of an everyday place, activity or object and supports teachers, parents, carers, educators to recognise the opportunities to relate abstract curriculum concepts in that place or activity and bring relevant terminology and explanations for learning in that moment, to consider how this relates to Sustainable Development Goals and to share this learning with others. In the session, Amanda and Sara shared both the thinking behind the design, the development journey with EHE educators and learners and practically demonstrated the App as an affordance of GAI tools.

During the session, attendees had the opportunity to use InstAcademy and test its functionality as an inclusive teaching & learning resource.
