Flexible Learning Grant Proposal & Application

This application outlines how the research team will conduct an exploratory study in the UoM primary PGCE programme, gathering stakeholders’ perceptions, experience and learning from using an educational Gen AI tool called ‘TeachMateAI’. The stakeholders in the research are:

• UoM trainee teachers (postgraduate students)

• UoM PGCE staff

• Primary school headteachers

• Primary school mentors

This research project will explore:

1. The professional culture for the use of the TeachMate AI tool by trainee teachers, university staff and primary school staff.
2. How and why UoM trainee teachers use this technology.
3. The impact on the training delivered by UoM staff as a result of trainee teachers’ using TeachMateAI.
4. The impact on the training delivered by primary school mentors/headteachers during teaching practices as a result of trainee teachers’ using TeachMateAI.
