I am a specialist social care researcher and Deputy Director, Social Care and Society, University of Manchester. I lead on research capacity development in social care through management and supervision of staff; ensuring grant funding; and strategic planning and management. My research includes the use and promotion of routine data in the social care field, in the UK and internationally. Studies of carers, carers assessments, and dementia intervention studies, in social care, secondary care and primary care. Studies of digital transformation in social care, dementia care and older people's care including data analytics, provider solutions in care planning and personalised information to carers to enhance their wellbeing. I was Chief Investigator for the NIHR Programme: Effective Home Support in Dementia: Components, Impact and Cost of Tertiary Prevention (https://sites.manchester.ac.uk/home-support-dementia/) and for the follow-on programme to this 'Evi-Dem'.
