When it comes to gender equality, many young men have a reflex reaction: reluctance to discuss the topic for fear of saying the wrong thing. But in the light of Everyone’s Invited and recent KCSIE guidance, it’s more important than ever to actively engage them with gender equality issues. So how can we construct a narrative that gets young men on board, giving them the necessary language and resilience to engage in these important and challenging conversations?

This interactive workshop session will cover the project Katharine led at Bolton School Boys’ Division: using women in history as a way in to engage young men in discussions around gender equality.

This session was presented at the ‘PGCE Conference 2023: Inclusion and Inspiration - Education for Social Justice’.
